History of European Meetings
It all started in Germany. The TR Register Deutschland used to have two annual meetings, one at the Whitsun Weekend in spring and one in September, after the school holidays. As some members of the TR Register Belgium went to every meeting the idea was born that the Belgian Club would reciprocate and invite the German club to visit Belgium. They met in September 1986 in Blankenberge, to which they had also invited the Dutch, French and Danish clubs. Very soon the French also wanted to organize such a meeting. This was held in Mulhouse at the Schlumpf Museum. So the TR Register Deutschland gave up their autumn meetings and the annual European Meetings were born instead. The European community grew very quickly. At the meeting in Paris the Italians joined in, and some years later more European clubs joined, including the UK. The most recent club to join the European TR family is the TR Register Czech Republic and we look forward to visiting them one day.
